Gallery 2131 is
comprised of six different galleries. Each
gallery is dovoted to different medium or theme.
I.M.A.G.E.S. (Interactive Media Art Gallery
Electronic System) has a multi-image system
allowing the customer access to hundreds of fine
art selections, as well as river images and local
tourism sites. The walls are adorned with wood
and soap stone carvings. |
The
next gallery, the "Rideau Hall" is
devoted to Italian marble and granite sculpturing.
The "Theater" Gallery is overlooked by
a stylized balcony complete with theater patrons.
It contains over 100 select works by 30 artists.
The "Millennium" Gallery features well
known Canadian artists; as well as a selection of
local artists. One of the highlights are works by
the late Charles Gilder, purchased from his
estate. |
|
 |
|
 |
 |
|
The
"Marine" Gallery is devoted to nautical-theme
works, including carvings, sculptures and
original oils. A number of local river scenes are
represented. Artists range from the
internationally reowned to the local, such as J.
Allison Robichaud.
The "Lighthouse" Gallery is housed in
the unique lighthouse structure that gives the
plaza its name. "Everyone recognizes the
Lighthouse", says owner Stewart Beatty.
Displayed here are ceramics, soapstone carvings
and wooden sculptures. |

|
The
new addition to the mix of commercial art and
electronics is lighting supplies. Specifically a
line of upscale "Carriage House"
lighting. The polyresin lighting fixtures from
Canarm are new to the area. "We are the only
area business to carry this unique line. This is
lighting as an extension of art."
To mark the debut of the lighting line a new room
is being opened. It will display the combination
of lighting, electronics and art in a "real
world environment". |
|
 |
This
is just the first of many changes. Lighthouse
Plaza (also home to Discount Carpet Design Centre)
is planning a 14,000 square foot extension. The
newly renovated commercial plaza, will front on
the 401. They are now leasing and will begin
construction in 2002. Owner Beatty says, "This
will jump start Brockville's 20/20 vision,
particularly for the east end of Parkdale Avenue.
We will be the first to develop this area of the
city."
